Individuals who are affiliated with SHEF’s service region in one or more of the following ways may be eligible to apply for financial support:

  • Resident:  the individual’s primary home address is located in one of the above jurisdictions.
  • Employee:  the individual is employed at a health care provider or ancillary service in one of the above jurisdictions.
  • Student:  the individual is enrolled in an accredited secondary or post-secondary program located in one of the above jurisdictions.

Support from SHEF may take the form of an award, scholarship or forgivable loan.

The Southside Health Education Foundation

Supporting education through scholarships, SHEF is committed to growing the number of healthcare workers who live and work in Southside Virginia. Our service region includes the tri-cties of Petersburg, Hopewell and Colonial Heights and the counties of Dinwiddie, Prince George, Sussex and southeastern Chesterfield. 

When residents from our region find great, well-paying jobs in our own backyard, they stay here, raise families here and build their lives here. Scholarship applications are accepted from individuals affiliated with the region as a resident, healthcare employee or student.
